What do you think of the new Amy Winehouse statue?

Sunday would have been Amy Winehouse’s 31st birthday.

To honor her memory, the late singer’s parents unveiled this statue in Camden’s Stables Market, in London.”It’s a day of incredibly mixed emotions,” said Amy’s dad, Mitch Winehouse.According to The Guardian, he kissed the statue’s cheek and added,”They don’t put statues up for people who are with us anymore, so it reinforces the fact that physically she’s gone, but spiritually she’ll never leave us.”Note the signature beehive on the bronze work. And the red rose stuck in her hair.

“Getting people to come here, spend some time with Amy and put a flower in her hair and remember her in a very positive way,” said Mitch, who was involved in the statue’s creation –“that, for me, is wonderful.””It’s just a wow, a definite wow,” said mom Janis.

The BBC reports that Winehouse said sculptor Scott Eaton had “done an amazing job in capturing” his daughter.”It is like stopping her in a beautiful moment in time. We really hope Amy’s fans love the statue.”Do you?
