Report: Ty Lawson signs deal with Indiana Pacers

Ty Lawson was bought out on Tuesday by the Houston Rockets.

Free-agent guard Ty Lawson agreed to a deal with the Indiana Pacers on Thursday, according to Yahoo.

Lawson, who was bought out by the Houston Rockets on Tuesday and later cleared waivers, is expected in Indiana this weekend.

Houston Rockets, guard Ty Lawson reach buyout.

Forward Chase Budinger is expected to be waived to make room on the roster.

The veteran guard was traded to Houston in the offseason, but he was never a fit in the Rockets backcourt while sharing the ball with James Harden. He averaged just 5.8 points and 3.4 assists in 53 games for Houston.

He’s expected to backup PG George Hill, but the Pacers have a relatively full backcourt with Monta Ellis (34 mpg) and Rodney Stuckey (24 mpg) already getting significant time. The Pacers (32-29) currently own the No. 7 seed but are just a half-game behind Charlotte and a game behind Atlanta in the playoff race.
